Business calculator
Our business calculator qualifies under the UK government's Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting (QAS).
Our business calculator is designed to allow you to calculate your organisation’s CO2 emissions.
Your Information
To calculate your emissions, you will need to input some information about your business:
Business Name - please enter the name of your company or organisation
CO2 Accounting Period - please enter the beginning and end dates of the period for which you would like to calculate your emissions.

There are 5 business calculator categories for you to use…
Business Flights - to work out the CO2 from your organisation’s air travel, you have four choices:
You can enter up to 8 routes onto the business flight calculator (e.g. the Glasgow/London route), enter the distance for that flight (our flight calculator will help you calculate the distances) and select how many legs (i.e. 8 legs equals 4 roundtrips) you want to calculate and let the calculator do the rest.
Or you can use our flight template to calculate how many flights your business has taken against three flight categories: domestic UK (a 265 miles flight), short-haul international (a 750 mile flight) and long-haul international (a 4375 mile flight).
Alternatively, you can use the Carbon Passport flight calculator for as many flights and routings as you wish and then record the total distance or tonnage for all of the flights you have calculated.
Finally you can use all or a combination of the above.
Business mileage – you can use either or both of these calculators:
Input the total number of miles or kilometers traveled during the accounting period against the 8 vehicle categories provided.
Use our car calculator to calculate the emissions from particular car models and enter the total tonnage for the vehicles in the CO2 box provided.
Rail travel - Input the distance covered during the reporting period by rail – e.g. 2 people commuting for 10 days from Guildford to Waterloo would be 1928 passenger kilometers.
Energy consumption of premises (offices, factories, warehouses etc) - You can enter electricity, gas and heating oil consumption for up to eight premises. If you need to do this for more than eight premises you can use the energy calculator and add the additional tonnage in the top up box.
CO2 top up - It could easily be the case that some activities will have fallen through the net or may simply be difficult for you to measure precisely. If you would like to top up the CO2 you can enter a tonnage figure in the top up box. Alternatively, you may already know your company’s CO2 and don’t need to use the calculator and simply want to obtain a price for purchasing CERs through us in which case use the CO2 top up facility.
CO2 Report
Once you have finished entering all of the data, simply click the calculate button and your CO2 emissions report will be generated – it will look something like this [NTD; link to PDF of dummy report] and will provide you with a breakdown by category, a total CO2 tonnage and the cost of offsetting either 60% or 100% of this total. You will be able to print out this report for your records and there is no charge for this service or any obligation to make a purchase.
If your total tonnage of CO2 exceeds 500 tonnes then you will be requested to contact us directly for a price quotation at business@carbonpassport.com or by telephone on 0845 310 5333.
Assuming that your emissions are below this level you will be offered the opportunity to pay by credit card or if the transaction is over £500 to request an electronically generated invoice.
Offset process
By credit card
Our web site will collect the necessary data from you via the secure payment facility. You will be given the opportunity to customize the text in a certificate that confirms that you have bought a set quantity of CERs. Once payment has been authorized you will receive an email from which you will be able to download this certificate. You will be asked if you would like Carbon Passport to remind you to contact you at the end of the accounting period stated in your report that it is time to do a calculation for the next period. You will also be asked to agree with our terms and conditions which will be available for viewing as part of the payment process.
By invoice
You will fill out the necessary details required to generate an invoice. You will be asked if you would like Carbon Passport to remind you to contact you at the end of the accounting period stated in your report that it is time to do a calculation for the next period. Finally you will be given the opportunity to customize the text in a certificate that confirms that you have bought a set quantity of CERs. Once payment has been received from you we will send an email confirmation and you will then be able to download this certificate.
When you select the “invoice me” button you will be confirming the purchase of the quantity of CO2 offsets that you have selected (either 60% or 100% of the total). Prior to this you will be asked to agree with our terms and conditions which will be available for you to read. The invoice will be sent automatically but if you have not received it within 24 hours or have any queries about the invoice you can contact us at info@carbonpassport.com. You will be able to pay by cheque or by bank transfer within 5 working days of the invoice date. Details of how to make payment will be set out on the invoice.
Finally, if you would like to communicate your CO2 offset either within your organisation or externally then we would be happy to supply you with further information, logos or promotional material that would help you. Please contact us at business@carbonpassport.com
